I have the secret book too and I've read it several times and after several passes I find most of it pure unsubstantiated hype. Yes there are some helpful quotes but most of it is carefully designed hype.
Why do you think so many of these people have been scrutinised and found not up to par? Look at the Aussie guy David Schirmer, he is a bloody disgrace and totally ruined the whole thing. I could be annoyed about that but I'm not because I think it was going to happen anyway. If their intention was just to make money while screwing with peoples minds then it stood to reason that the results would be they would lose the money and have their own minds screwed with. The saddest thing is some people believed in the person so they have been badly hurt. Then there are people who have been hurt financially because of some people lies. Those sorts of things are unforgivable and exactly why they are getting the results that they are now.
So no, I'm not surprised, just interested to see what happens.
